In a typical off-grid residential installation the home and outbuildings will all draw their electricity from a single battery bank and inverter(s). The power equipment, inverter, switch gear, batteries etc., are usually located in their own outbuilding or other central distribution point. Power from solar, wind, generator and other sources is brought into the system at this point as well.
